I’ve been a scientist for nearly 20 years now. If there’s anything I’ve learned is that science, as with most cultures, has its own language, its own idioms, its own communication styles. In the science world, certain terms and phrases are used and their meaning is understood by the community.
In the recent debate of Evolution vs. Creationism, or even over Climate Change, there is a tremendous misunderstanding about one word.
Those opposed to Darwinist Evolution and Climate Change use the word theory as a pejorative. I’ve often contended that those who do simply do not understand what theory means within the scientific community. In order to explain it, here’s a handy graphic.
So, dear readers, know that theory has a specific meaning in the scientific community that is NOT “wild guess”.
