Sure, throughout our history there have been people scared of the “Mohammedans” or “Musselmen”, as Muslims were referred to in 18th Century America, but the overall sentiment from not only the people, but Founding Fathers such as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and John Adams all held Islam in great respect.
