Today starts my 2nd week of work. The last 10 days have been incredibly insane.. between driving, finding a house, signing a lease, starting work, getting the kids enrolled in school, waiting forever (and still waiting) for our stuff to get here, furniture shopping, blah, blah, blah….
I’m about freaking exhausted.
This adjusting to Eastern time is a little tricky, too. This past weekend we were out at IKEA looking at furniture and when 5:30 rolled around I was surprised. My internal time of day sensors still need a little calibration.
But.. the good news is:
1. We got a house rented in beautiful Avalon Park in what I’m told is called East Orange. We fell in love with that neighborhood the first day we saw it. Our house (in the picture) is a 3br + den single level ~1700 sqft.
2. Aside from some last minute paperwork, Hally and Jake are enrolled in school. You think Arizona’s enrollment requirements are tough… these here suck.
3. Utilities are being turned on this week so we can finally stop hotel living. We’ll have to camp out for a few days, but the extra space will be great. Plus the kids’ll be in their school neighborhoods, which makes commuting for Charlotte and I wayyyy easier.
4. The job is great. Everyone here is very friendly, eager to help, and has great advice about getting settled.
Yup.. we’re Floridians now. All that’s left is Driver’s Licenses, plates for the van, and registering to vote. I think the deadline is this week, so wish us luck on getting that done!
Oh, and Ashlyn… I miss your face.
