I’m smart.
Scary smart.
Dr. Reid from Criminal Minds smart.
I have an IQ that’s been measured at 170+ and a near Eidetic memory.
I have stacks upon stacks of books and I’ve read them all. Even the ones in Greek and Aramaic.
I’ve studied everything from television broadcasting to nuclear chemistry to communication to theology.
You could say that knowledge is my drug of choice.
You see, I value intelligence, and I believe that if you want to be President, you better be one of the smartest people in the room. You don’t have to know everything, but you better be in the top 3 in intelligence, and be able to understand what your advisers are telling you.
Intelligence has become passe in this country. It’s looked down upon and viewed as a negative quality. It’s something to be scorned.
As the world gets more complex, the solutions to the world’s problems become more complex. Sound bytes and jingoistic statements just won’t cut it, yet that’s the way this country is moving.
The 24 hour news cycle, celebrity obsessed culture that’s developed in this country is, quite honestly, dumbing down the American public.
Our children are falling behind in math and science education and higher education is quickly becoming financially out of reach for a majority of Americans.
Our perceptions of the world, and of this country in particular, are so far out of whack with reality, I honestly don’t know much longer the grand experiment known as America will survive.
The more and more I see and hear in the news, the more I find myself agreeing with Jim West.
Perhaps we deserve a Sarah Palin or Michele Bachmann Presidency.
Maybe then, and only then, intelligence will come back in vogue.
