Dr. Laura Quits The Radio Business

dr laura

….and you’ll never guess why.

She claims she’s leaving radio in order to regain her First Amendment rights.

Via HuffPo:

“My contract is up for my radio show at the end of the year and I’ve made the decision not to do radio anymore,” she told Larry King. “The reason is I want to regain my First Amendment rights. I want to be able to say what’s on my mind and in my heart and what I think is helpful and useful without somebody getting angry, some special interest group deciding this is the time to silence a voice of dissent and attack affiliates, attack sponsors. I’m sort of done with that.”

I guess that means she wants to be free to call someone a ni**er as often as she likes.

All I can say is good riddance.  Like I said in a previous post, you’re free to say whatever you want, just be sure you’re willing to pay the consequences for your words.

“I guess that means she wants to be free to call someone a ni**er as often as she likes.”

Who did she call that to? That should be an easy enough question since this is so obviously “blatant”.

I think we should find out who the caller was and what she does for a living and publicly flog her too. She said it five times. Or is five the cur off? Is five the maximum times youre allowed to say it? I admit to not being hip to the latest rules.

This is a non story. And deep down you this to be true.

She finished her bizzaro rant with “If you’re that hypersensitive about color and don’t have a sense of humor, don’t marry outside of your race.” The caller also made a good point. Just because others do it, does it make it right? Laura never answered the question. She was more incensed that she couldn’t say it whenever she wanted.

Like I’ve said before….people have the right to say whatever they want….they just have to accept the consequences of their words.

I agree, the comment about marrying outside her race was definitely uncalled for, and frankly didnt make sense. Bringing Obama into the discussion was also uncalled for. She is more intelligent than that and could have ripped the caller to shreds without bringing the president into the discussion.

So what if she was angered that she couldnt say it whenever she wanted? Thats what free speech is all about- ESPECIALLY in the context she used the word. She didnt use it to refer to the caller- she simply to said word just for the sake of saying it to make point and I think she did a fine job of illustrating her point. Had she used the word more directly at the caller, then THAT would fall under the “inciting a riot” or “bomb on an airplane” territory- in which case she should face the consequences.

But there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the way this conversation went down. NOTHING at all.
By not answering my question as to who exactly she called that to, as you alleged, you prove my point.
By justifying your position based on your opinion on the reasons behind her apparent rage, you basically prove my point again. You are making a bad attempt at being the “thought police”. Its no different than those who assume that the Muslims building the mosque are up to no good.

This is a non story. The only reason its in the news is hatred for Schlessinger by people like HuffPo and MediaMatters who want to silence any opposing viewpoint.
