Rick Santorum | Like Mel Gibson Without The Booze

The 2012 GOP Presidential candidates are, almost without exception, one big bag of crazy that has no business being anywhere within 5,000 miles of the Oval Office.  The only good thing that comes out of the front runner position changing more frequently than a newborn changes diapers is that the crazy gets exposed to the light much sooner. With his second place finish in yesterday’s Iowa Caucus, it’s Rick Santorum‘s turn. Aside from his…ahem…”google problem”, after listening to Senator Box Turtle speak and reading his policy positions, I’ve come to one concluson. Rick Santorum is a Mel Gibson Catholic, minus the booze and spousal abuse. Just in the last 36 hours, Santorum has suggested: Outlawing contraception “One of the things I will talk about, that no president has talked about before, is I think the dangers … Read entire article »

Today’s Sign Of The Apocalypse | Osteen Gets A Reality Show

Oh sweet Jesus.  Straight from the Houston Chronicle. “Survivor” producer Mark Burnett is teaming up with Joel Osteen for a primetime network show in 2012, TMZ has learned. Burnett tells TMZ, the premise of the show is that ordinary people will give up several days or longer to go on a mission with Joel Osteen, one of the most popular pastors in the world. All of the missions will be in the confines of US soil to “start fixing things.” Now, on the surface that seems ok……wait for it……….. “We do these projects without the cameras rolling,” said Iloff. “But Jesus said, ‘Let your light shine. Don’t hide it under a bushel.’” From Hollywood’s perspective, it’s not necessarily about the content, but the marketability and profitability of such programs, said Richard Flory, an expert in American Christianity at the … Read entire article »

#FantasyFootball Friday | 2011 Week 4

Well,  last weekend was an unmitigated disaster.  My teams went 0-2 in near blowout losses. Yahoo I lost this game 275-224 behind Reggie Wayne and Santonio Holmes‘ combined 12 freakin’ points!  Meanwhile, my opponent had a number of players go off (Megatron, Ryan Matthews, and MJD just to name a few).  At the last minute I benched Romo for Newton because of his injury and, well, the Fantasy Football gods decided to reward me with a hurricane like downpour in Carolina.  Thanks… This week, things are starting to get a little sketchy.  Combine injuries and poor play with the “Can’t Cut” list and setting a lineup gets a bit difficult.  I dumped Jay Feely for Rian Lindell and Pierre Thomas for Dane Sanzenbacher this week.  Feely’s been struggling and Buffalo has been scoring … Read entire article »

Fantasy Football Friday | 2011 Week 3

As mentioned last week, my friends Rod and Adam and I are starting weekly Fantasy Football columns. Rod’s advice and preference for Wide Receivers is here. Adam’s Tight End obsession is here. Here’s the report for Salem’s Brew, week 2. 2-0 last week baby! ESPN League Another dominating performance, winning 121-99 in a standard scoring league.  With Stafford (25) and Best (23) leading Detroit’s rout of Kansas City, this game wasn’t ever really close.  This team was drafted to dominate and two weeks in I’m the highest scoring team. This week, I’ve got the kiss of death, 80% of the advantage checkmarks, but I’m not too worried.  I’m starting Rivers (vs. KC), Best (vs. Min), Forte (vs. GB), Andre Johnson and DeSean Jackson at WR.  I’m looking to go 3-0 in this league after this weekend. YAHOO League This … Read entire article »
